I’ve been where you are.
Staring at a website, looking at two nearly identical parts with a $200 price difference.
One says “Aircraft-Grade Aluminum” and “Premium Finish.”
The other says “Heavy-Duty Steel.”
Which one is actually better for you?
For years, I just guessed.
And sometimes, I guessed wrong.
I ended up with parts that bent, rusted, or didn’t fit.
I got tired of guessing.

I’ll use my Jeep TJ Flat Style Fenders as a real-world example to show you exactly how I answer them.
Use this list to judge me, and everyone else.
QUESTION #1: “WHAT IS THIS REALLY MADE OF, AND CAN YOU PROVE IT’S THICK ENOUGH?”
“Heavy-duty steel” or “premium aluminum” means nothing without numbers.
A thin, flimsy piece of metal will fail on the trail, regardless of the material.
My Answer & Proof (Using My TJ Fenders as the Example):
I don’t use vague terms.
I give you the exact specs, and I’ll tell you why I chose them.
Material: 100% Cold-Rolled Carbon Steel. Not aluminum.
Why? Because when you’re squeezing through tight trees or getting grazed by a rock, you want strength and flexibility, not just light weight.
Steel will bend and can be hammered back; aluminum is more likely to crack or shatter.
Thickness: 1.5mm (0.059 inches).
This is the sweet spot for a fender.
It’s thick enough to be rigid and withstand impact, but it retains enough flexibility to conform perfectly to your wheel well contour without needing excessive force to install.
It won’t crack.
Proof: Like with all my steel parts, the mill test certificates for the coil stock are on file.
The thickness isn’t an estimate; it’s a certified measurement.
What you can do: Ask any brand for the exact material grade and thickness in millimeters or inches.
If they can’t give you a number, be very skeptical.
QUESTION #2: “WHAT DOES YOUR ‘POWDER COAT’ OR ‘FINISH’ ACTUALLY DO TO PREVENT RUST?”
A finish is not just for looks; it’s the only thing standing between your part and a rusty death.
A cheap, thin coat over poorly prepared metal is a ticking time bomb.
My Answer & Proof:
Our finish is a 7-step armor system, not just paint.
For the TJ Fenders, here’s what that means:
Full Surface Prep: Every fender is abrasive blasted to bare, clean metal.
This creates the perfect “tooth” for coating adhesion and removes all contaminants.
Anti-Corrosion Foundation: After blasting, it goes through a multi-stage chemical wash and phosphate treatment.
This layer actively resists rust from forming underneath, even if the top coat gets scratched.
The Final Armor: We then apply a textured, black powder coat.
The texture isn’t just for looks—it’s thicker and more durable than a smooth coat, better at hiding scratches and resisting chips from flying debris.
What you can do: Ask, “What is your rust prevention process before painting?”
If the answer is just “we powder coat it,” the rust process has already started beneath that shiny surface.
QUESTION #3: “WHAT SAFETY STANDARDS OR CERTIFICATIONS DOES THIS PART HAVE?”
This is critical for safety-related parts like roll bars, bumpers, or skid plates.
Many brands use terms like “DOT Certified” or “Meets SAE Standards.”
It’s important to understand what that really means.
My Transparent Stance at DAKROVA:
Let me be perfectly clear: My parts, including any future structural components, do not carry official DOT or third-party certifications.
Here’s why, and here’s what I do instead.
Why No Official Cert? The formal certification process is extremely costly and time-consuming, designed for mass-producing OEMs.
As a small brand focused on value, those costs would directly triple the price to you, without necessarily making the part itself any stronger.
My Alternative: Obsessive Specification & Transparency. Instead of paying for a certificate, I invest every dollar into the part itself and into being radically transparent with you.
For any part that needs to be strong, I will:
- Detail the design rationale and safety factors used
- Show you the construction methods (e.g., “full-penetration welds performed by certified welders”)
- State the intended use case clearly (e.g., “for moderate trail use, not for extreme competition”)
THE BOTTOM LINE
